Your monthly meal inspo | August 2024

If you know me or have been around here for a while, then you know food is my love language — for myself and for others.
Cooking is more than putting food on the table. It’s self-expression, a chance to unwind, a way to nourish my body, and how I show my family I care for them.
Now don’t get me wrong, I cook out of necessity too — after all, I have a toddler and run my own business, so not every experience is this idealistic. But I do try to always infuse what I’m making with a bit of thought and care.
I know not everyone has this relationship with cooking. I’m fortunate that it’s been ingrained in me from an early age thanks to my mom (and hers).
To know how to season properly, what pairs well with what, how to pivot when what you’re making just isn’t right, how to whip something up with whatever’s leftover in the fridge, that presentation matters, to appreciate both simple and fine ingredients, and that good quality olive oil plus flaky sea salt will make anything taste good.
Part of this Substack is to share my love of cooking with you. But in a way that also supports you nutritionally — with deliciously simple yet elevated recipes that balance your blood sugar and support happy hormones. Plus ideas for feeding your children in a way that supports both their nutritional needs and choosy palates.
While I’d say 95% of the way we eat can be classified as “healthy” (a topic to expand upon another day) — I believe there’s a place for butter, regular sugar, and chocolate too. Because not every banana bread recipe has to be paleo. And sometimes you just need regular pasta.
The first Thursday of every month, I’ll be sharing a recipe round-up to inspire you. Including recipes I create, but also from other women creators I admire. As a way to spread the love and an acknowledgement to my always striving self that I have a lot on my plate with my private nutrition practice + being a mom — I don’t have to be a recipe blogger too.
So let’s jump in, shall we?
LMK in the comments what you’re excited to make!
